Scratchboard is a technique I first experimented with in college. It requires me to create by working in reverse: using sharp tools to remove dark ink on the page, I slowly and carefully reveal sections of the white layer beneath, creating a highly detailed, black and white image in the process. The final result often has the clarity and precision of a photograph.
